A Legion of Warriors

The Dax Hunter Files: #1

A Legion of Warriors

An angry war is being fought by bold men, and none come bolder than Dax Hunter.

Aware that his past is about to catch up with him, ruthless KGB agent Vladimir Morozov requests a transfer to Southern Africa. Leading a small band of guerrillas across the border, his mission is to shoot down a second passenger aircraft.

The callous act shocks a nation.

Spurred by the atrocity, the air force sends ace pilot Dax Hunter to apprehend the fugitives. He discovers the gang on the banks of the Zambezi River. The brutal encounter sets in motion a sequence of events that will forever entwine the fates of the two men.

Meanwhile, maneuvering between the Cold War's fragile ententes, the CIA's shadowy dealings continue to disrupt the status quo. Teaming up with a feisty yet resourceful CIA officer, Hunter is unwittingly drawn into a questionable government operation.

This is absolutely my kind of book. From start to finish I was gripped by the action-packed scenes, the suspense, the twists and turns and the distinct identities of the characters, who are so well developed and many of whom I could relate to, given my own Rhodesian upbringing. This novel is a must read.

Well plotted, fast-paced and exhaustively researched, this book is a rewarding read for anyone with even a passing interest in the conflict between east and west as it unfolded in Africa in the 70’s and 80’s, and the people who were caught up in it. Well done, Gary!

This is a must read. Great writing and great characters in the book. The author is a Clive Cussler or Tom Clancy in the making. The only difference is the author actually has real life experience in war zones.

I absolutely loved this book. This author is emerging as a superb adventure/historical fiction author. He has a talent for words that is truly unique. If you like Wilbur Smith, Edward Rutherfurd and Leon Uris, you’ll love this guy.

Excellent book by Gary Albyn! Storytelling that goes head-to-head with the likes of Andy McNab. Fast paced and a few twists that make this very difficult to put down! A sequel or series Gary Albyn?

A seriously riveting read which I could not put down. Facts woven into the story educated me half a world away in New Zealand … but it is Gary Albyn's knack to project the reader into the world of the characters that really cements the marvelous storytelling for me. I have to ask Gary Albyn: please gift us with ‘A Legion of Warriors 2’.
