The Falklands War

Ricky D Phillips’ opus, ‘The First Casualty’, spits in the eye of most mainstream accounts of the first day of the Battle for Stanley [April 1982]. With meticulous care, he dismantles most—if not all—of the long-held beliefs fed to the world in the aftermath of Argentina’s invasion of The Falklands.

During my research for ‘A Banner of Knights’ —the second book in my Dax Hunter Files—I sent a speculative email to Ricky asking if he might be willing to add to my growing understanding of the Falklands War. What followed was a veritable trove of interview transcripts, photos, eyewitness accounts and newspaper articles. As if that wasn’t enough, my new friend also agreed to write the foreword to ‘A Banner of Knights’.

All this was back in 2018.

Ever the iconoclast, Ricky is presently working on yet another revealing truth bomb out of The Falklands War. In a recent tantalizing message, Ricky revealed that he has unearthed explosive details that would challenge even a John le Carré novel for intrigue, betrayal and revenge. In Ricky's own words, it is all solid, verifiable fact. Naturally, I cannot wait for him to finish this book. While much of what he shared with me is just too sensitive to reveal now, he paid me the biggest compliment ever: “But Gary,” he wrote, “[this information] makes ‘A Banner of Knights’ look incredibly accurate. The more I look into it, the more I am amazed by how prescient your work was. And yet if you wrote the full truth, they'd say you took fiction too far. In a couple of years from now, people will think you must have been psychic or perhaps even a security risk!”

Thank you, Ricky … Who am I to argue with a 9-times international Best-Selling Author?
